I love Adirondacks, and nothing is better than spending a few days in a backcountry cabin. Martin invited us to his cabin (well, the shed really) for dinner. All three of us were single at the time. Stephane just met his wife, Martin was divorced and I was single. ---- Cabin in the woods -- the 2002 visit. This time I went with Ste Sesqu, who at that time recently met Mandy MacBlane. If I recall correctly, Mandy wanted him to go to Rochester to meet her parents for the very first time. Terrified of meeting his girlfriend's parents, Stephane opted to go with me to spend Thanksgiving in a backcountry cabin in the woods of the Adirondacks. One highlight from that trip was that we went up to the owner's (Martin Schwalbaum) cabin to get: 1) Toilet paper 2) Milk for bisquits Marin invited us over to have thanksgiving with him. We ended up eating canned turkey, having more than one Saranak Black and Tan, and listening to Strauss Symphony No 2 on a portable CD player attached to a car battery. Martin was recently divorced. Imagine a 70+ year old man whose wife kicked him out of the house for browsing too much porn. Martin had a number of books on living in the woods in his cabin, including "How to shit in the woods", "How to have sex in the woods." By the end of the dinner we all cheered and vowed to "get ourselves some chicks" by November 2003. This was the view from our cottage deck. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary my wife and I decided to go to the same place that we went to for our honeymoon for a week. That place happens to be TiKaye Resort in Saint Lucia. Ten years ago we actively explored the island and almost every day was filled with activities. This time we decided to book a nice cottage with a pool (ours was N "Nich") and a good view and enjoy beach activities. The only exception was going for a hike up Gros Piton. TiKaye Resort is located in the cliffs above the Anse Cochon lagoon. Anse Cochon is a popular destination for snorkelers and scuba divers, as well as a fishing priority area. Some notes on my photography workflow: 1. I use m4/3s system (Panasonic GX7 at the moment) and GoPro. I take the GoPro into places and situations where any other camera would be prohibitive. 2. I use a 128 Gig iPad Mini as a tool to backup SD cards at the end of the day and pre-sort photos. 3. I share a few of my favorite shots each day on Instagram and have Instagram cross-post to Facebook. This is a convenient way to share some fun highlights of the day with friends and family. iPad is very helpful here. 4. Once home I import photos and videos into the computer directly from the iPad using "Image Capture." I do not delete imported images from the SD cards until I know for sure everything made it onto my computer. 5. I use Dropbox to store my photos and access them from all of my devices. I use [Hazel App](http://www.noodlesoft.com/hazel) to automatically sort photos into subfolders by year and month. 6. I synchronize my Lightroom CC with the Dropbox folder and create synced collection. This allows me to sort, rate, flag and apply basic post-processing to photos using Lightroom on the iPad as well as on my MacBook. The conference itself was held at the Sands Expo center in the Venetian complex. I stayed at the Palazzo. This was my first time in Las Vegas.
