This article was originally published September 7, 2016 on my Computerworld Cloud Power blog Earlier this year I switched from Android to iPhone and from Verizon to Google’s Project Fi. My blog post about the experience generated a vigorous discussion comparing Google’s privacy guarantees to Apple’s. The summary of the argument presented to me is … Continue reading Don’t trust your cloud service until you’ve read the terms
I am addicted to Medium, and I am tempted to move my entire blog to it
I use writing to build my personal brand, explore ideas, and connect with smart people. Looking for a place to host my company’s blog this spring I came upon Medium and got addicted to it ever since. What I learned from using Amazon Alexa for a month
When Amazon Echo with Alexa service came out in November 2014 I was skeptical. A speaker with voice recognition seemed like an unneccessary oddity. When a friend of mine purchased one in 2015 I had a chance to play with it but was unimpressed still. Alexa SDK has been open to third party developers for … Continue reading What I learned from using Amazon Alexa for a month
Why I switched to Android and Google Project Fi and why should you

I followed the press articles about it nevertheless. Finally about two weeks ago I bought an … Continue reading Amazon Alexa is eating the retailers alive

This article was originally published by me on my InfoWorld blog in June, 2016. The last time Gartner published their IaaS/PaaS provider rankings Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure occupied the coveted upper right quadrant. To make it into Gartner's magic quadrant both Amazon and Microsoft needed to demonstrate the quality of their services as well … Continue reading In search for the mythical neutrality among top-tier public cloud providers
In Support Of Gary Johnson
I try to keep this blog free of politics. However, the post entitled “Daddy, why didn't you blog about Trump?” by my friend Scott Aaronson brought up a very valid point: Against those considerations, I recently realized there’s an argument for speaking out, which goes as follows. Suppose Trump actually wins (as of this writing, … Continue reading In Support Of Gary Johnson
Files and folders: apps vs documents
The other day I had a conversation with a friend who pointed out that one of the reasons he purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet as opposed to an iPad Pro was the fact that Windows 10 has proper file management mechanisms whereas the iPad does not. I am not going to debate a personal … Continue reading Files and folders: apps vs documents
